Dual-Function Garden Room, Hersham
The Client's Brief
The client in Hersham required a substantial garden room capable of serving two distinct functions: a quiet, dedicated office space for daily work, and a flexible, comfortable area for entertaining teenagers and hosting sleepovers. The brief emphasized high-end, premium finishes, maximum spatial efficiency (including sleeping and storage solutions), and climate control for year-round comfort, plus external integration for a hot tub area.
Our Bespoke Solution
This large-scale build was engineered to deliver maximum luxury and utility. The entire exterior cladding and extensive surrounding patio were finished in durable Millboard composite material, ensuring a sleek, unified, and low-maintenance appearance. The roof was covered with high-quality, long-life rubber slate tiles, backed by a 25-year warranty.
Internally, we installed premium climate control with AC and underfloor heating. Space optimization was key: we designed a pulldown bed system that seamlessly transforms into integrated storage when stowed. A small mezzanine level was introduced to provide a cosy retreat or extra storage. The luxury features continued with a hidden shower room and WC, accessed via a secret door, and a sophisticated kitchenette featuring a striking copper sink and tap. The exterior design included a dedicated, surrounding decked area specifically designed for the client’s hot tub.
The Outcome
The result is a highly practical, aesthetically stunning, and truly bespoke garden building. The room perfectly balances its dual role, providing a professional office environment by day and a luxurious, fully-serviced guest/entertainment space by night. The combination of premium Millboard, hidden features, and robust infrastructure ensures a durable, high-value addition to the client's home.
